What does iGaming platform migration involve?

iGaming migration transfers agreed data, workflows or integrations between systems while preserving the required financial and operational continuity. Modernization changes an existing architecture or codebase. Both need evidence about the current platform, controlled transformation, reconciliation and a release plan that addresses exceptions rather than assuming a bulk export is sufficient.

Establish the source of truth and export rights

We inventory player records, account states, balances, transactions, bonuses, open activity and reporting history. The team confirms available exports, identifiers, retention needs and contract restrictions. Missing records and inconsistent definitions become explicit risks or remediation tasks before a migration date is committed.

Migration access is scoped to the people and systems that need it, with protected exports, access records and agreed retention or disposal. Authentication data requires its own compatibility check: password formats, identity-provider identifiers and enrolled factors may not transfer to the target. The plan defines supported transfer or player recovery, session invalidation and support procedures while preserving account restrictions. Rehearsals use appropriately protected or de-identified data rather than unrestricted copies of player records.

Count.
Compare.
Reconcile.

Preserve identifiers, precision, state and cutoffs. A matched aggregate can still conceal an incorrect individual account.

Rehearse transformation and reconciliation

Trial runs compare source and target counts, balances and selected histories using agreed rules. We define how data changes during the migration window and how incomplete rounds, unsettled bets and active promotions are handled. Reconciliation produces evidence and an exception list that business owners can review before production cutover.

Mapping rules, rehearsals and cutover evidence

  • Migration scope and dependency assessment
  • Data mappings and transformation routines
  • Reconciliation and dry-run evidence
  • Integration and URL transition inventory
  • Cutover, rollback and recovery runbook
  • Post-migration validation and handover

Define cutover and rollback as operational events

The runbook specifies access changes, freezes where needed, provider switches, player communication and monitoring. Rollback feasibility depends on what happens after the target begins accepting activity, so the triggers and recovery boundary are agreed in advance. Modernization phases can reduce the size of a cutover when the architecture allows it.

Once the target accepts a deposit, wager or staff correction, restoring an older source snapshot can discard valid activity. The runbook therefore records the last reversible point, how new writes are stopped or reconciled, and when forward recovery replaces rollback. Finance and operations review outstanding obligations and exception evidence before switching authority or reopening access. Post-cutover checks include login recovery, provider callbacks, balance reconciliation and the unresolved-case handover.

Traffic routing alone does not restore financial continuity. Phased modernization, URL transitions and retained services follow the commissioned scope.

Data reconciliation, cutover and modernization questions

Discuss your requirements
Can you migrate from a white-label supplier?

Potentially, depending on data rights, export quality, provider agreements and the target architecture. We assess those constraints before promising a complete transfer or uninterrupted access to every existing service.

Can you guarantee zero downtime?

The plan can minimize disruption, but downtime and recovery claims need evidence from the specific systems and rehearsals. We agree the cutover window, continuity approach and rollback criteria rather than use an unsupported universal guarantee.

What happens to unsettled bets and incomplete rounds?

They are part of the obligation inventory. The scope defines which system finishes them, how outcomes reach the correct wallet and how both platforms’ reports are reconciled during the transition.

Does modernization require a full rebuild?

No. An audit may identify targeted refactoring, integration changes or phased replacement as a better path. The evidence and business priorities determine the boundary.

Will old website URLs be preserved?

Where a website migration is included, we inventory existing URLs, map canonical destinations and implement appropriate redirects. Content, metadata, analytics and sitemap checks accompany the technical platform transition.

How are active bonuses, player restrictions and consent handled during migration?

The mapping includes bonus balances, remaining wagering requirements, expiry timestamps and the rules attached to an active award. Account restrictions, self-exclusion and communication preferences also need explicit source and target treatment. Rehearsals verify those states before access is enabled; unavailable or incompatible records become named exceptions for the operator to resolve rather than being silently reset.

Can players keep their passwords and authentication factors after migration?

That depends on source export rights, password formats, identity-provider support and the target authentication design. Enrolled factors and active sessions must not be assumed portable. We validate supported identity mappings and transfer methods, or plan a player recovery and re-enrolment flow with clear communication and support ownership. Acceptance checks account restrictions, duplicate identities, expired sessions and authorized recovery before enabling access. Raw passwords are not requested as a migration shortcut.

Can we roll back after the new platform accepts transactions?

A simple return to an older database can lose or duplicate activity accepted by the target. Define the last reversible point, reconciliation of new writes, outstanding rounds or bets, provider callbacks and financial corrections before cutover. The runbook names who can stop activity, authorize recovery and reopen the service. Depending on the architecture and accepted activity, controlled forward recovery may be the appropriate path. Rehearsals test the agreed boundary rather than treating a backup as a complete rollback plan.

What determines platform migration cost and delivery time?

The main factors are export rights and quality, record volumes, authentication compatibility, open financial obligations, provider contracts and the target architecture. Transformation rules, trial runs, reconciliation, integrations, player communication and support training form separate work items. Milestones progress from accepted source mappings to a reconciled rehearsal and an approved cutover runbook. Source-supplier access, contract changes and unresolved discrepancies can affect the schedule; the estimate states these dependencies before a go-live date is committed.

A controlled route to release

Reconcile the migration before moving live operations

  1. Establish export rights and source-of-truth rules

Inventory accounts, balances, provider references and operational history with the access actually available. Agree transformations, cutoffs and validation responsibilities before moving records.

  2. Rehearse migration and financial reconciliation

Run representative exports and imports with repeatable mapping rules. Compare counts, account states, monetary precision and affected transaction references, then resolve discrepancies before cutover.

  3. Execute an agreed cutover and rollback plan

Coordinate final synchronization, provider routing and operating checks within the approved release window. Hand over reconciliation evidence and explicit rollback triggers for the migration performed.

Review the evidence before the next release

Share the systems being replaced, available export formats and a redacted data-quality summary covering identifiers, balances and open obligations. Name the owners of source access, data mapping and cutover approval so discovery can separate repair work, migration rehearsals and transition responsibilities.
